Swish Oak Natura - Raw Leaf - 14/3mm Engineered Oak Flooring

Raw Leaf is the most unusual colour in the Swish Oak Natura range and the one that justifies its name. It is a pale greenish-khaki beige, an oatmeal body with a soft olive cast that becomes obvious the moment you set it beside a straight neutral like Ambient Sand or Belfort Oak. Under warm light the green recedes and it reads as a light sandy oak; under cool or overcast light the olive comes forward clearly. Choose Raw Leaf if you want a light floor with a distinctive, slightly earthy character rather than another safe greige; avoid it if the room already has green joinery or strong green furnishings, where the two will compete.

Because the undertone shifts noticeably with the light, this is a decor that genuinely needs sampling in the room at several times of day before you commit. Where it works, it works beautifully with natural materials, rattan, linen and warm white walls. Practically it behaves like the other light decors: good at opening up a small or dim room, less good at hiding dark grit and shoe scuffs, and best suited to living areas and bedrooms rather than a busy back entry off the garden.

Construction across Swish Oak Natura is consistent: 14mm overall, with a 3mm sawn oak wear veneer bonded to a multi-ply engineered core, supplied as 190 x 1900mm planks with a micro-bevelled edge. The boards are Tongue and Groove, so the installer can glue them down or float them over underlay, and that decision changes both the cost and the acoustic character of the finished floor. The oak face is solid timber, which means the floor can be sanded and recoated in future rather than thrown away when the coating tires. At 3mm the veneer allows fewer resurfacing cycles than the 4mm Wideboard boards, which is the honest trade. Engineered timber also requires acclimatisation in the room before laying, unlike a hybrid floor.

Manufactured to the E1 standard with VOC emissions under 5ppm, the range is a low-emission option for homes where that matters. It is also a natural product, so colour and grain vary from board to board and the tone will mature under natural light across the life of the floor. Treat that variation as part of the character you are buying rather than something to be matched perfectly, and always confirm your choice with a sample seen in your own light rather than on a monitor.
