Fluffy Rugs
Fluffy rugs are one of the easiest ways to make a space feel warmer, softer and more inviting. Whether you're styling a bedroom, lounge or cosy corner, a plush rug can instantly turn a room from “finished” into “I never want to leave”. At Adore Rugs, our fluffy rugs collection includes a wide range of colours, sizes and ultra-soft textures designed for Australian homes.
If you're looking to buy fluffy rugs in Australia, this collection covers everything from high-pile luxury rugs to more practical soft options for everyday use. Perfect for bedrooms, living rooms and relaxing spaces, these rugs are all about comfort, warmth and that soft-underfoot feel you notice straight away.
What Makes a Great Fluffy Rug?
Not all fluffy rugs are the same. The two most important factors are pile height and backing quality. A higher pile creates a softer, more luxurious feel, while a strong backing ensures the rug sits flat and stays in place.
Our Heaven 800 range features a 35mm pile with a soft faux rabbit fur finish, making it one of the plushest rugs we offer. For something slightly easier to maintain, the Paradise and Marble ranges provide a great balance between softness and practicality.
Fur, Faux Fur, Shaggy or Plush?
People search for these rugs under a lot of names: fur rug, faux fur rug, furry rug, shaggy rug, plush rug. None of the rugs here are real fur. They are polyester piles made to feel like it.
- Heaven 800: a 35mm pile with a faux rabbit fur finish, the deepest and most furry rug we sell, in eight colours.
- Paradise 400: a 23mm pile on a cotton backing, super soft but lighter to lift and shake out, in six colours including White and Black.
- Impulse 600: a soft fluffy pile with a diamond pattern, in Beige, Ivory, Silver, Powder Pink and Jade.
If you want a soft touch rug that is thick but not shaggy, Softtouch 700 is a plain 20mm heat-set polypropylene rug at about 4.1kg per square metre. It suits a busier lounge where a deep shag pile would flatten.
Choosing the Right Colour
Colour plays a bigger role in fluffy rugs than most people expect. Because of the deep pile, light and shadow interact differently across the surface, which can change how the colour looks in your space.
- Grey and silver rugs: Our most popular choice for living rooms and bedrooms, easy to style with almost anything.
- Cream and ivory rugs: Soft, warm and perfect for neutral interiors.
- Pink rugs: Great for bedrooms, nurseries and softer styling.
- Black fluffy rugs: Heaven 800 and Paradise 400 both come in Black, and Heaven 800 also in Graphite. A black fluffy rug gives a pale bed or sofa something to sit on.
- White fluffy rugs: Paradise 400 comes in pure White, and Heaven 800 and Impulse 600 in Ivory. A white fur look rug brightens a dark bedroom but shows marks sooner than Taupe or Silver.

Where Fluffy Rugs Work Best
Fluffy rugs are best suited to low-traffic, comfort-focused areas. Think bedrooms, lounge rooms, reading corners and nurseries. These are spaces where softness matters more than durability.
They are not ideal for high-traffic areas like hallways, entryways or under dining tables, where the pile can flatten and trap debris. For those areas, consider our flatweave rugs or machine washable rugs instead.
Choosing the Right Size
Getting the size right makes a huge difference. A rug that is too small can make a room feel disconnected, while the right size helps anchor the space.
- 160x230cm: Ideal for smaller rooms or bedrooms.
- 200x290cm: Perfect for most living rooms and under queen beds.
- 240x340cm: Best for larger spaces and open-plan layouts.
For a small fluffy rug or a bedside mat, most Heaven 800 and Paradise 400 colours come as an 80x150cm runner and in 120x170cm, and many in a 120cm round. The runner size works as a fluffy mat beside the bed or in front of a couch.
Searching for fluffy carpet for a bedroom? A 200x290cm fluffy rug laid across a queen bed gives you soft pile on both sides, and it lifts out for cleaning. If you want wall-to-wall carpet instead, we supply and install carpet in Sydney.
In bedrooms, we recommend choosing a rug that extends at least 60cm beyond the sides of the bed so your feet land on something soft every morning. In living rooms, aim for the front legs of your sofa to sit on the rug.
For bigger spaces, browse our large rugs and extra large rugs collections.
Are Fluffy Rugs Practical?
Fluffy rugs are all about comfort, but they can still be practical with the right care. Most high-pile rugs will shed slightly in the first few weeks, which is normal and reduces over time. Regular gentle vacuuming (without a beater bar) helps maintain the softness and shape.
For homes with pets or young children, you may want to consider how often the rug will need cleaning. If easy maintenance is a priority, our machine washable rugs are a great alternative.
Why Buy Fluffy Rugs from Adore Rugs?
Adore Rugs is a family-run Sydney rug store with showrooms in Auburn and Lansvale. Every rug in our collection is selected for real Australian homes, balancing comfort, quality and value.
We offer free delivery Australia-wide on rugs, AfterPay at checkout, and a 21-day return window for online orders. If you're local, visiting the showroom is always recommended, fluffy rugs are one of those products that are even better in person.
