What is in the collection

Vendome 700, 701 and 702 are 100% acrylic, woven at 1.3 million points per square metre with a 10mm pile and a high density cotton backing; Vendome 700 weighs 3.1kg per square metre. The pattern is worked in soft touch acrylic against shrink acrylic, which pulls part of the design lower after weaving so the medallions and florals stand in relief. Opera 500, 501 and 502 are a 50% acrylic, 50% polyester blend at 11mm pile, in abstract designs. Orsay, Triomphe and Elysee complete the Pierre Cardin set, from the plain lined Triomphe 501 to the faded transitional Elysee 902.

Aura 776, 779, 785 and 786 are the other family here: a 12mm pile of 77% polypropylene heatset, 15% acrylic and 8% polyester with metal yarn highlights and a jute backing, in black, silver and beige with borders and centre medallions.

Why choose acrylic

Pick it for the look and feel of a wool rug at a lower price, in rooms where the rug is meant to be noticed: a formal living room, a master bedroom, a dining room that is not used every day. Acrylic resists fading, so it suits a sunny room better than wool does. It is not the fibre for a mudroom or a kitchen, where polypropylene's stain resistance matters more, and new acrylic rugs can shed a little fluff for the first few weeks of vacuuming, which is normal and stops.

Sizes

The Pierre Cardin ranges run from an 80x150cm runner through 160x230cm and 200x290cm to 240x340cm, with 80x300cm runners for hallways. For a living room, 200x290cm brings the rug up to the front legs of the sofa and 240x340cm puts about half the sofa on it.

Care and delivery

Vacuum weekly without a beater bar, blot spills with cold water, and turn the rug once or twice a year so it wears evenly. Free delivery anywhere in Australia, 21-day returns, and the full Pierre Cardin range is on the floor at our Auburn showroom. Compare with our wool rugs and polyester rugs.
