Staten Island is a pale greige with heavy open knots and strong variation from board to board — rustic in the same family as Coney Island, but warmer and a shade deeper. The knots are the whole character of it, and they are genuinely practical: a floor with this much going on hides scuffs, grit and daily traffic in a way a smooth board never will.

It is the pale option to choose for a busy household, a rental or a holiday house — anywhere the floor needs to look good without being looked after. In a formal or minimal interior it will be too busy; Hamptons is the quiet pale alternative.

Hydroplank uses a WPC core, warmer and softer underfoot than the stone-composite cores most hybrids use, and more forgiving over an uneven subfloor — often the deciding factor in an older home.
