160x160cm Round Rugs
A 160cm round rug is the most useful of the round sizes. It is big enough to anchor two armchairs and a side table, to sit under a round dining table for two, or to fill the floor of a nursery, and small enough to fit a bedroom corner or an entry. We stock 28 designs in this size and every one of them is also made as a rectangle, so a matching rug for the adjoining room is easy.
What is in this size
Heaven 800 is the softest: 100% polyester with a 35mm shaggy pile and a cotton backing, in ivory, beige, taupe, dark taupe, silver grey, graphite, black and powder pink. Paradise 400 is a shorter 100% polyester plush in white, silver, taupe, cream and black, and it is the one to pick for a child's room where the rug will be sat and played on.
For a flatter rug with a pattern, Desire is a Turkish made polypropylene range on a 9mm pile with faded medallion designs in cream, navy, grey, rust and multi. Sydney is another polypropylene range at 12mm with heirloom style medallions in navy, grey, rust and cream. Both are hard wearing and suit a dining setting.
Where a 160cm round rug works
In a living room, place it so the front legs of two chairs sit on it with the side table between them. It is not large enough to go under a sofa. Under a round dining table, it suits a table up to about 90cm across, so that a chair pulled out still has its back legs on the rug. For a bigger table, step up to 200cm round. In a bedroom, a 160cm round beside the bed gives a soft landing without the rug disappearing underneath the base.
Round rugs soften rooms full of straight lines. A square room with a rectangular sofa, a rectangular coffee table and a television bench reads differently once a circle is on the floor, which is why the shag versions are popular in apartments.
Care
The polypropylene designs vacuum clean and shrug off spills. The 35mm Heaven shag needs a vacuum without a beater bar, or the suction only setting, so the pile is not pulled. All rugs ship free Australia-wide with 21-day returns, and the round sizes are on the floor at our Auburn showroom. Other sizes: 120cm round, 200cm round and all round rugs.
