Oversized Rugs 280x380cm and 300x400cm

If a 240x340cm rug still feels slightly too small, stepping up to a 300x400cm rug can completely transform your space. Oversized rugs allow all furniture to sit comfortably within one defined area, making rooms feel more cohesive, balanced, and luxurious.

Why 300x400cm Rugs Are the Ultimate Oversized Option

300x400cm rugs are considered the largest standard rug size for residential spaces. They are designed for rooms where coverage, proportion, and visual impact matter most.

Full coverage: Allows all furniture to sit completely on the rug
Perfect for open-plan living: Defines large spaces without breaking flow
Luxury feel: Creates a high-end, designer finish
Balances large rooms: Prevents furniture from feeling scattered
Statement size: Ideal for premium interiors and expansive layouts

If you need something slightly smaller, explore our extra large rugs (240x340cm) or large rugs (200x290cm). For compact spaces, browse our small rugs.

Where Oversized Rugs Work Best

Oversized rugs are designed for large spaces where smaller rugs would feel out of proportion.

Open-plan living areas: A large living room rug in 300x400cm helps unify lounge, dining, and seating areas into one cohesive zone.

Large living rooms: Perfect for homes with multiple sofas or large sectional seating, ensuring everything sits comfortably within the rug.

Dining rooms: A dining room rug in this size suits 8 to 10 seater tables, allowing chairs to remain fully on the rug even when pulled out.

Master bedrooms: A bedroom rug in 300x400cm can sit entirely under a king bed, extending generously on all sides for a luxurious finish.

Oversized Rug Size Guide

Understanding how oversized rugs compare to other sizes helps you choose the right option for your space.

160x230cm: Small rugs for compact spaces (see small rugs)
200x290cm: Standard large rugs (browse large rugs)
240x340cm: Extra large rugs (explore extra large rugs)
300x400cm: Oversized rugs for maximum coverage

Choosing the correct size ensures your rug enhances the space rather than making it feel disconnected or undersized.

Popular Oversized Rug Styles

Oversized rugs come in a wide range of styles, allowing you to create the perfect look for your home.

Modern rugs: Clean lines and contemporary designs that suit open-plan homes.

Traditional rugs: Detailed patterns that add elegance and structure to large spaces.

Neutral rugs: Beige, cream, and grey tones that create a calm and balanced base.

Shaggy rugs: Soft, plush options that add comfort and warmth.

Washable rugs: Practical choices for busy households.

How to Style an Oversized Rug

Oversized rugs should be used to anchor the entire room rather than just a portion of it.

In living rooms, position the rug so all seating sits fully on top. This creates a cohesive and high-end look. In dining areas, ensure the rug extends well beyond the table. In bedrooms, allow generous space around the bed for a soft and balanced finish.

Because of their size, oversized rugs can handle more pattern and texture, making them ideal as statement pieces.
