Swish Oak Natura Handcrafted - Natural Canvas - 14/3mm Engineered Oak Flooring

Natural Canvas is the light neutral of the Handcrafted trio, a warm greige-oatmeal with pale limed grain lifting through the hand-worked surface. It is the most restrained colour of the three and the easiest to build a room around, sitting warmer and lighter than Misty Quartz and cooler and less blushed than Sunlit Sienna. The name is accurate for once: it genuinely behaves like a canvas, taking on the character of whatever sits on it rather than asserting a colour of its own. Choose Natural Canvas if you want a light, calm, texturally interesting floor that will not date; avoid it if you want the floor itself to be the feature.

Light warm neutrals are the most flexible floors to live with because they accept both cool and warm furnishings without conflict, which matters when the rest of the interior is still being decided or will change over time. The pale body opens up smaller rooms and apartments, and the hand-worked texture and limed grain give fine scratches somewhere to disappear, which pale smooth floors do not. Like all light floors it shows dark grit and rubber scuffs at an entry more readily than a mid-brown, so a mat at the door is worth having.

The Handcrafted boards sit within the Swish Oak Natura family and share its engineering: a 3mm sawn oak wear layer over a cross-bonded multi-ply core, 14mm overall, in 190 x 1900mm planks with micro-bevelled edges. What changes is the surface treatment, which is worked more deliberately so the grain and texture read as hand-finished rather than machine-uniform. Installation is Tongue and Groove, giving you the option of a direct-stick floor bonded to the slab or a floating floor over underlay. The 3mm oak face allows sanding and refinishing in future, with fewer cycles available than the 4mm Wideboard veneer. Acclimatisation on site is required before laying, as with any engineered timber.

Every board is produced to the E1 emission standard with VOC content under 5ppm, which keeps the floor a low contributor to indoor air quality once it is down. Because the surface is genuine oak, expect visible variation in colour, figure and grain between boards, and expect the floor to age and change tone with sunlight over time. That is the nature of real timber and part of why it looks the way it does, but it does mean a screen image can only ever be indicative.
