Swish Oak Natura Handcrafted - Misty Quartz - 14/3mm Engineered Oak Flooring

Misty Quartz sounds like a pale, cool, almost white stone colour, so the actual board is a step darker than expected: a mid grey-taupe mushroom with a cool green-grey cast running through the hand-worked grain. It is the deepest of the three Handcrafted decors and the only one that reads as genuinely grey. Natural Canvas is clearly lighter and warmer, and Sunlit Sienna is lighter again with a blush undertone, so within this small range the three are easy to separate. Choose Misty Quartz if you want a mid-tone greyed floor with texture and no warmth pulling at it; do not order it expecting a pale quartz white.

Mid-tone greys are practical in a way pale floors are not, because they sit at the point where dust and grit are both reasonably well hidden, and the hand-worked surface texture here adds another layer of camouflage for fine scratching. That makes it a sound choice for hallways, open-plan living and homes with children or animals. The cool cast means it sits best with a warmer supporting palette, so warm whites, timber furniture and textured textiles stop the room reading flat. It works well with matte black and brushed nickel hardware.

Swish Oak Natura Handcrafted takes the Natura platform and gives it a more worked, hand-finished surface. The board is 14mm overall with a 3mm sawn oak wear veneer over a stable engineered core, supplied in a 190 x 1900mm plank with micro-bevelled edges. It uses a Tongue and Groove profile, so the floor can be glued directly to the substrate or laid floating over underlay depending on the slab, the acoustics and the budget. The 3mm oak face is genuine timber and can be sanded and refinished across the life of the floor, though a thicker 4mm veneer like the Wideboard range permits more of those cycles. Engineered oak must be acclimatised in the room before installation, so allow lead time.

Swish engineered oak is manufactured to E1 low-emission standards with VOC levels below 5ppm, so the floor contributes very little to the indoor air of the home it is laid in. Bear in mind that real timber veneer varies in colour and grain from board to board and will continue to shift gently under light over the years, deepening or mellowing depending on exposure. That is characteristic of natural oak rather than a fault, and it is the reason you should always look at a physical sample in your own room instead of judging tone from a screen.
