Swish Oak Natura - Nordic Limed - 14/3mm Engineered Oak Flooring

Nordic Limed is a very pale soft grey-white with a faint warm beige running underneath, the classic limed oak look where white pigment sits in the grain and lifts the whole board. It is the second lightest decor in the Natura range. Nordic Spring is the one it is most easily confused with: Spring is cooler and slightly whiter, while Nordic Limed keeps a trace of warmth and shows the grain more distinctly. Against Danish White it is noticeably greyer and less creamy. Choose Nordic Limed for a light, airy, Scandinavian floor with visible limed texture; look elsewhere if you want any real depth of colour, because there is very little here.

Very pale floors are the most effective way to make a modest room read as larger and brighter, and this one does that job while keeping enough grain texture to avoid looking like painted board. It suits apartments, coastal homes and rooms with limited glazing. The honest trade-off is that dark marks, grit and shoe scuffs show clearly against a near-white surface, and there is no strong grain pattern to hide them, so it is a better fit for bedrooms and considered living rooms than for a family entry or a mudroom.

Swish Oak Natura is engineered oak built for practical Australian installs: a 3mm sawn oak wear layer over a stable multi-ply core, 14mm thick overall, in a 190 x 1900mm plank with micro-bevelled edges. Boards use a traditional Tongue and Groove profile, which means the floor can be either glued directly to the substrate or laid floating over underlay. Those two methods are not interchangeable in cost or feel, so it is worth deciding early: direct stick is quieter underfoot and works well over concrete slabs, while floating is quicker and more forgiving. The 3mm oak face is real timber with enough substance to be sanded and refinished during the floor life, though not as many times as a thicker 4mm veneer would allow. Engineered timber must be acclimatised on site before it is laid.

Swish engineered oak is manufactured to E1 low-emission standards with VOC levels below 5ppm, so the floor contributes very little to the indoor air of the home it is laid in. Bear in mind that real timber veneer varies in colour and grain from board to board and will continue to shift gently under light over the years, deepening or mellowing depending on exposure. That is characteristic of natural oak rather than a fault, and it is the reason you should always look at a physical sample in your own room instead of judging tone from a screen.
