Naples - Downtown - 9mm Cut Pile Carpet

Downtown is a near-black charcoal, the coolest and cleanest of the two darkest colours in the Naples range. There is no brown in it and no blue: it is a straight deep grey that stops just short of black, so it holds a faint softness that a true black carpet would not. Cove Beach is its counterpart at almost the same depth but distinctly warmer and browner, and Manor Inn is a shade lighter with a blue cast; Downtown is the one to pick when you want depth without any colour temperature attached to it. It is excellent in home theatres and media rooms, where a dark floor stops light bouncing around, and it looks deliberate rather than heavy on a staircase paired with white risers. The honest warning is that near-black carpet is unforgiving about pale debris: light-coloured pet hair, lint from towels and the fluff off a new woollen throw will all be visible, and it wants vacuuming more often than a mid grey. In a small or poorly lit room it will also close the space in, so Water Front is the safer depth there.

The range is a Belgotex tufted cut pile carpet in 100% solution dyed nylon, 9.0mm in total thickness, over an Action Fleece backing and supplied 4.0m wide. The relatively low pile height suits a dark colour, keeping shading and vacuum tracking to a minimum across a big expanse of floor.

Because the nylon is solution dyed, the charcoal is locked into the fibre rather than sitting on it. Dark carpets are the ones most likely to fade unevenly in Australian light, and this construction is the defence against that; it also means spills can be cleaned properly without leaving a lighter mark. Belgotex rate Naples Extra Heavy Duty Residential, the top grade for a home, and Light Duty Commercial only, so it is a residential carpet rather than a specification for offices, shops or commercial fitouts.

Naples carries a 15 year residential warranty from Belgotex; no commercial warranty is offered on this range. Supply and install available across Sydney.
