Naples - Surf Side - 9mm Cut Pile Carpet

Surf Side is the lightest colour in the Naples range: a pale warm greige that reads as sandy cream in daylight and settles to a quiet oatmeal under lamps. It is warm where Beach Walk is cool and faintly green, and cleaner and less pink than Little Harbour, which sits a step deeper on the same warm side of the palette. Use it where you want a room to feel larger and calmer, particularly main bedrooms, formal lounges and upstairs landings that never get much direct sun. Be realistic about where it will not work. A carpet this pale in a front entry, in a hallway that takes traffic straight in off the garden, or in a home with large dogs will ask more of you than most families want to give. If that describes your house, specify Pier One or Central Ave through the living areas and keep Surf Side for the bedrooms.

Naples is a Belgotex tufted cut pile carpet in 100% solution dyed nylon, finished at 9.0mm total thickness. That is a lower, tighter cut pile rather than a deep plush, so it feels smooth and soft underfoot without the pronounced footprinting and vacuum tracking you get from a 12mm pile. On a pale colour that is an advantage: there is less shading to catch the eye across a large floor.

Solution dyed nylon is the reason a light colour like this is worth considering at all. The pigment is locked into the fibre as it is made rather than applied to the surface, so it will not fade in Australian sun and it stands up to hard cleaning, including bleach-based spotting that would strip colour out of a piece-dyed carpet. The backing is Action Fleece and the roll is a full 4.0m wide, which keeps most bedrooms and standard hallways seam-free.
