Natural Blackbutt lands in the warm middle of Herringbone 7.0 — a mid golden-khaki with an olive undertone and a fairly even grain that stays consistent from block to block. Oak Sofia is its nearest neighbour in the range and runs slightly greener and more yellow; Oak Saffron is lighter and distinctly more apricot. The evenness is an advantage in herringbone, where a highly varied board can make the pattern hard to read. It is less suited to anyone wanting a floor with obvious plank-to-plank character.
Mid warm tones are the most practical choice for a herringbone floor, because the pattern is already doing the visual work and the colour does not need to. There is enough depth to absorb dust and enough warmth to absorb dark grit, so the floor looks clean between cleans in a way that neither the pale nor the dark end of the range manages. That makes Natural Blackbutt a sensible pick for hallways, living rooms and light commercial spaces, and it holds its warmth under artificial light after dark.
Herringbone 7.0 is built around the pattern. Each block is 600 x 150mm and 7mm thick, including 1.5mm of pre-attached IXPE acoustic underlay, and the UniZip profile is engineered specifically for the angled joins that herringbone creates rather than adapted from a straight-plank lock. Micro-bevelled edges give every block its own shadow line, and the wearing surface is a 0.55mm layer beneath an anti-bacterial UV coating. Laying it is a more involved job than a plank floor — more cuts, careful setting out and additional labour — which is worth factoring into your planning. The core is waterproof, but a click-together floor is not a waterproof assembly and is not a substitute for a waterproofing membrane; check with us before specifying it for a wet area.
