Iconic Spotted Gum is a warm honey-amber with fine straight grain and a gentle shift between honey and deeper amber from plank to plank. Of the two Australian timber decors in this range, it is the one that looks like the species: spotted gum in a solid floor lays honey, amber and brown, and this sits squarely in that band.
It comes on the narrower 180mm board rather than the 228mm oak plank, which suits hallways, bedrooms and smaller rooms where a wide board shortens the space. A carton covers 2.189m2.
Golden floors want warm or neutral walls. Cream, warm white and stone all work; a cool grey wall will make the floor look yellow by comparison. Brass and black tapware both sit well with it.
The plank is 1520 x 180 x 7.5mm on a wood plastic composite core with 1.5mm of acoustic underlay bonded to the back. The core contains no respirable crystalline silica, confirmed by the supplier's XRD test, so there is no silica dust when planks are cut. The floor tested at AAAC 6 Star for impact noise with an L'nTw of 39 dB, and residential use is covered by a 25 year structural warranty and a 20 year wear warranty. Iconic is rated for in-slab hydronic heating only and is not for bathrooms.
