Grande 9.0 - Ghost Gum - 9mm Hybrid Flooring

Despite a name that suggests something pale, Ghost Gum is one of the more characterful mid-browns in Grande 9.0 — a warm eucalypt-toned board with genuine plank-to-plank variation, fine dark grain lines and occasional redder boards running through the mix. It has more movement than Northern Spotted Gum and considerably more depth than Pacific Blackbutt. It rewards rooms with enough floor area to let the variation resolve into a pattern, and it suits anyone after an Australian hardwood look rather than a European oak one. In a small room, or alongside busy tiles and patterned rugs, it can be more than the space can carry.

Variation is a practical asset as well as an aesthetic one. A floor that already contains several tones absorbs scratches, scuffs and the general grit of daily life better than any uniform board, which is why characterful mid-browns are the usual recommendation for entries, hallways and houses with dogs. The warmth also holds up in artificial light, where cooler boards tend to go flat after dark. The caveat is scale: in a compact apartment the pattern repeat becomes noticeable, and a calmer board serves better.

Grande 9.0 is a floating SPC hybrid at a full 9mm, with 2mm of that made up by IXPE acoustic underlay pre-attached to the board, so the floor goes down in one pass. The build stacks a rigid core, an LVT balance layer and a cushion pad beneath a 0.55mm wear layer and an anti-bacterial UV coating. Boards measure 1500 x 230mm, carry micro-bevelled edges and click together on a precision click-lock profile. While the rigid core itself is waterproof, a click-together floor is not a waterproof assembly and is not a substitute for a waterproofing membrane — talk to us first if it is going into a wet area.
