Northern Spotted Gum does what the name promises: a warm caramel-to-tan board with the uneven, banded character of Australian spotted gum, some planks noticeably darker than others across a laid floor. Against Ghost Gum it is lighter and more golden; against Pacific Blackbutt it is deeper and considerably more varied. It is the obvious choice for a renovation that needs to sit comfortably beside existing hardwood, and for anyone who wants a recognisably Australian floor. If your brief is calm, uniform and European, this is the wrong end of the range — look at Capri or Sand.
This is about as practical as a floor gets. The banded mid-brown tones give scratches, scuffs and dried footprints almost nowhere to show, and the natural variation means a repair board or a later addition blends in rather than announcing itself. It handles high-traffic entries, hallways and open-plan kitchens without looking tired, and holds its warmth under both daylight and lamplight. The only real constraint is room size: in a compact space the plank-to-plank contrast can feel busy, and a quieter board will make the room feel larger.
The Grande 9.0 platform is built for substance underfoot. Its 9mm build includes a 2mm pre-attached IXPE acoustic underlay, which cuts footfall noise and removes a separate underlay from the installation entirely. The layers above it are a rigid SPC core, an LVT balance layer and a cushion pad, topped with a 0.55mm wear layer and an anti-bacterial UV coating. Long 1500 x 230mm boards with micro-bevelled edges lock together on a precision click-lock profile and float over the substrate. The rigid core is waterproof, though a click-together floor is not a waterproof assembly and is no substitute for a waterproofing membrane — speak to us before specifying it for a wet area.
Warranty runs to 25 years residential and 5 years commercial. The board carries an A+ VOC rating, is phthalate free and is fully recyclable at end of life, which makes it a straightforward specification for projects with indoor air quality or sustainability requirements. Supply and install available across Sydney.
