Guardian Estate Grey is a pale to mid grey with pronounced silvery limed striation running the length of the board and one noticeably paler plank in the mix. It is lighter and more washed than Grey Oak and cooler than Chester Oak, which puts it in the pale-grey-with-character slot rather than the flat-grey one.
The striation is what stops a pale grey floor looking like a blank sheet. Light picks up the limed grain at an angle and gives the floor texture without the colour variation that a rustic decor brings, so it suits rooms where you want interest underfoot but a calm overall scheme.
Coverage is worth planning on this one because the boards are wide. Each plank is 228mm by 1500mm and a pack of six covers 2.052m2, so a 40m2 living area is twenty packs with a little over for cuts. Order the whole job at once; production batches tone slightly differently and a top-up pack bought later may not match.
The board is a 5mm rigid SPC core with 1.5mm of IXPE acoustic underlay already attached, finished matt with a micro bevel on four sides. It tested at AAAC 5 Star for impact noise and P4 for wet slip resistance, and residential installations are covered by a 25 year limited structural warranty.
