Swish Native Australian Hardwood Flooring
Swish Native is engineered flooring with a genuine Australian hardwood wear layer rather than European oak. Two species, Blackbutt and Spotted Gum, each offered in three grades.
The grade names mislead almost everyone, so it is worth being precise. Natural, Neat and Select read like colour names and are nothing of the sort. They describe how much natural feature the boards carry, not what shade they are. Put a Neat pack beside a Natural pack and the colour family is identical. What differs is how much is going on in the timber.
Natural is the ABCD grade with the full range of knots, gum vein and board-to-board variation, on a 189mm board. Neat is a cleaner ABC grade on a narrower 136mm board, with the heaviest gum vein and largest knots filtered out before the pack is made up. Both carry a 3mm hardwood wear layer. Select is the tidiest of the three and comes with a 2mm wear layer.
One trade-off runs the opposite way to what people expect: a cleaner floor shows an individual scratch a little more plainly than a busy one, because there is less going on to absorb it.
The engineered core is what lets Australian hardwood go over a concrete slab or into an apartment where a solid strip floor would be difficult, and it moves far less with seasonal humidity than solid hardwood of the same width. Micro-bevelled edges, tongue and groove, glued down or floated. E1 emissions under 5ppm.
It is still timber, so the boards must be delivered and acclimatised in the room before installation. Australian hardwoods deepen and warm over the first year or two. Sydney supply and install, supply only, or bring your own installer.

Select is the entry point into the Swish Native Hardwood range: a 2mm hardwood wear layer on a 136mm board. On the swatch it is also the most saturated of the three Spotted Gum options: a deep caramel-orange golden brown...

If Spotted Gum appeals but the full ABCD spread feels too busy, Neat is the answer. The swatch keeps the species' warm golden-brown character and its caramel lights, but the extremes are pulled in: fewer near-chocolate boards, less gum vein...
AVAILABILITY: In stock (1000 items)
Spotted Gum is the most colour-variable timber in this range, and the Natural grade lets every bit of that variation through. The swatch is a warm mid golden-brown with strong caramel and orange lights, streaks of near-chocolate running through some...

Look past the word Select and check the specification, because in this range it signals two things at once. On colour, the swatch is the familiar Blackbutt palette, warm blonde with a pinkish-tan cast and fine straight grain, with a...
AVAILABILITY: In stock (1000 items)
Neat is the middle grade of the Swish Native Hardwood range, and choosing it over Blackbutt Natural is a decision about feature rather than colour. The swatch shows the same pale honey blonde with its soft warm-pink undertone and fine...
AVAILABILITY: In stock (1000 items)
Natural is a grade, not a shade, and in Blackbutt it is the most feature-rich of the three. The swatch shows the colour you would expect from the species, a pale honey blonde with a soft pinkish-tan cast and fine,...
