Blackbutt - 14/3mm Pioneer Brushed Engineered Timber Flooring

This is real Australian blackbutt. The Godfrey Hirst Pioneer range is faced with genuine Australian species timber veneer, not an oak print wearing an Australian name. Blackbutt gives you a pale golden board with a soft olive cast and low, even grain contrast: light enough to keep a room bright, warm enough never to feel clinical, and the reason it has been the default Sydney floor for twenty years.

Brushed is the more textured of the two Pioneer finishes, and the difference is functional as well as visual. Wire brushing opens the grain so you can feel it underfoot, which hides everyday marks better than a flat surface, and it lifts the slip rating to P3 under AS 4586, against P2 for the satin finish. If the floor runs through an entry, a kitchen or anywhere that gets wet underfoot, that is the finish to specify. It also comes on a wider 180mm board (or 130mm if you prefer a narrower plank), against 136mm for satin.

Boards are supplied in nested random lengths at 2100mm or 1820mm, which lays up looking like a genuine timber floor rather than a repeating pattern. Underneath the veneer is a 14mm multiply board with a 3mm wear layer, thick enough to be sanded back and recoated two or three times over the floor's life, which no hybrid, laminate or vinyl can do at any price. Insta Clic® installation means real timber goes down as a floating floor, no glue or nails. UV cured lacquer, micro bevel edge.
