Pioneer Australian Engineered Timber Flooring
Pioneer is Godfrey Hirst's engineered timber in genuine Australian species rather than European oak: Tasmanian oak, blackbutt and spotted gum, in satin and brushed finishes. Five products.
The specification that matters is the 3mm wear layer over a 14mm multiply board. That is thick enough to be sanded back and recoated two or three times across the life of the floor, which is the thing no hybrid, laminate or vinyl can do at any price. If you want a floor that can be restored rather than replaced, this is the category.
Board width varies by species and finish. Tasmanian oak satin is the widest at 170mm against 136mm for satin blackbutt and spotted gum, and on a pale low-contrast timber that width does real work: fewer joins across the floor and a calmer look. Boards come in nested random lengths at 2100mm or 1820mm, which lays up like a real timber floor rather than a repeating pattern, with the set-out worked out on site.
Installation is Insta Clic floating, so a genuine timber floor goes down with no glue or nails. UV cured lacquer, micro bevel edge. Slip rating P2 under AS 4586, abrasion at or above 500r, lipping at or under 0.2mm to EN 13489, fire CRF 3.2kW/m2.
Genuine timber varies board to board, so order all the material for a job at once. Backed by a 25 year timber limited residential warranty, made under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and compliant with Green Building Council VOC limits. Sydney supply and install, supply only, or bring your own installer.
