Spotted Gum - 14/3mm Pioneer Satin Engineered Timber Flooring

Genuine Australian spotted gum, not a print of it. The Godfrey Hirst Pioneer range is faced with real Australian species timber veneer, and spotted gum is the species that most rewards being real. It runs honey through amber to mid brown with strong variation from board to board and dark streaking through the grain, and no printed floor reproduces that properly. It is the boldest of the three Pioneer species and it wants a room with space to carry it.

Satin is the smoother, finer of the two Pioneer finishes, flat rather than brushed, which keeps the focus on the timber's own colour and movement instead of adding surface texture on top of it. It comes on a 136mm board, narrower than the brushed version's 180mm, which helps if the space is a hallway or a smaller room where a wide plank plus strong grain would be too much at once. Boards are supplied in nested random lengths, so it lays up like a genuine timber floor rather than a repeating pattern.

The board is 14mm multiply with a 3mm wear layer, thick enough to be sanded back and recoated two or three times over the floor's life, which is the real argument for engineered timber over any look-alike. It goes down with Insta Clic® as a floating floor, no glue or nails, finished in UV cured lacquer with a micro bevel edge.

Covered by a 25 year Godfrey Hirst timber limited residential warranty. Slip rating P2 under AS 4586; the brushed finish is rated P3 if you need more grip.
