Tassie Oak - 14/3mm Pioneer Satin Engineered Timber Flooring

Tassie Oak is not an oak at all. It is the trade name for a group of Australian eucalypts, and that is what gives this floor its character: a pale straw-to-blonde base with soft pink and light brown tones running through it and fine darker streaking. It is the palest and most subtle of the three Godfrey Hirst Pioneer species, and the one to choose if you want genuine Australian timber without the strong amber of spotted gum or the golden-olive of blackbutt.

It also comes on the widest satin board in the range at 170mm, against 136mm for satin blackbutt and spotted gum. On a pale, low-contrast timber that width matters more than it sounds: fewer joins across the floor, and a calmer, more expansive look. Boards are supplied in nested random lengths at 2100mm or 1820mm, which lays up like a real timber floor rather than a repeating pattern, though the set-out is worked out on site.

Underneath is a 14mm multiply board with a 3mm wear layer, thick enough to be sanded back and recoated two or three times across the life of the floor: the thing no hybrid, laminate or vinyl can do at any price. Insta Clic® installation means a genuine timber floor goes down floating, with no glue or nails. UV cured lacquer, micro bevel edge, satin finish.

Godfrey Hirst back it with a 25 year timber limited residential warranty. Slip rating P2 under AS 4586.
