Spotted Gum - 14/3mm Pioneer Brushed Engineered Timber Flooring

Spotted gum is the most variegated timber Australia produces, and on a brushed board you get the full effect: honey through amber to mid brown, changing markedly from plank to plank, with dark streaking driven through the grain. This is the real species under a Godfrey Hirst Pioneer veneer, not a print imitating it, and the difference shows most on a floor like this where the pattern never repeats.

Brushing is what separates this from the satin version. Wire brushing opens the grain so the texture is under your hand as well as your eye, and on a timber with this much natural movement it works with the figure rather than flattening it. The practical gain is grip: brushed is rated P3 under AS 4586, against P2 for satin: the finish to specify if the floor runs through an entry, a kitchen, or anywhere that gets wet underfoot. It also comes on a wider 180mm board, or 130mm if you want a narrower plank, against 136mm for satin. Wide suits spotted gum: each board needs room for its variation to read.

Boards arrive in nested random lengths at 2100mm or 1820mm, so the floor lays up like genuine timber instead of a repeating pattern, though the set-out is worked out on site. The board is 14mm multiply with a 3mm wear layer, thick enough to sand back and recoat two or three times across the floor's life, which is the real argument for engineered timber over any look-alike. Insta Clic® floating installation, so real timber goes down without glue or nails. UV cured lacquer, micro bevel edge.
