Alabaster - 7.5mm Iconic WPC Hybrid Flooring

The name says white and the board is not. Iconic Alabaster is a pale blonde with a clear olive cast running through it, closer to a washed khaki oak than to anything chalky. If a near-white floor is what you are after, Tumble Stone is the one in this range that delivers it; Alabaster is for people who want pale without cold.

That olive undertone is more useful than it sounds. Pale floors with a green lean sit calmly next to sage, eucalyptus and stone-coloured walls, and they do not turn peach in afternoon sun the way a warm blonde does. The trade-off is that against pure white walls the green becomes noticeable, so a soft warm white is the safer wall colour.

Iconic is built on a wood plastic composite core rather than the mineral core used in SPC hybrids, and Preference Floors had it tested by X-ray diffraction: it contains no respirable crystalline silica. There is no stone in the board, so there is no silica to be released when planks are cut on site.

Each plank is 1520mm by 228mm and 7.5mm thick, with 1.5mm of acoustic underlay already attached, and a carton covers 2.080m2. The floor was tested at AAAC 6 Star for impact noise, with an L'nTw of 39 dB on a concrete slab with a suspended plasterboard ceiling. It is water resistant for interior rooms rather than waterproof, so it is not the board for a bathroom or laundry.
