Guardian Natural Oak is the board with the most character in the mid range: a mid greige-brown carrying knots, open grain and a visible shift in tone between planks. Set it beside Chester Oak and this one is clearly deeper and browner. Set it beside Dexter Oak and it is the calmer of the two.
Character floors suit rooms that are otherwise plain. In a house with flat-panel cabinetry, plasterboard walls and little decorative detail, the knots and grain do the work that architraves and mouldings do in an older place. In a room already full of pattern, it will be one thing too many.
The four-sided micro bevel matters more on a decor like this than on a smooth one. Each plank keeps its own edge, so the knots and grain read as individual boards rather than as a printed sheet.
Plank size is 1500 x 228mm, six boards to a 2.052m2 pack weighing 21.8kg. The core is 5mm rigid SPC with 1.5mm of IXPE acoustic underlay already bonded on, giving 6.5mm in total and an AAAC 5 Star impact rating without a separate acoustic layer. The floor is fully waterproof and rated P4 for wet slip resistance under AS 4586:2013, so it is sound for a kitchen or an entry that takes wet shoes.
