Alpine Mist - 8mm Oakleaf HD Plus Laminate Flooring

This is Alpine Mist on the 8mm Oakleaf HD Plus board: the same light warm blonde-beige oak as the 12mm version, with the same soft grain movement and gentle sandy cast. The decor is identical; what changes is the board under it.

The 8mm plank is 1215mm x 195mm against the 12mm's 2200mm x 196mm. That is the honest trade-off: a shorter board means more end joins across a room, and on a pale low-contrast colour like this the joins are the main thing the eye picks up. What you keep is everything that makes Oakleaf HD Plus worth buying: the same high definition digital print, the same AC4 wear rating, the same super matte coating, and the same 48 hour water-resistant system, which is a three-part design rather than a claim: a T Seam tight lock click profile, moisture-protection treated bevel edges, and an independently tested water-resistant core.

It also carries the same warranty as the thicker board: 25 years limited structural and 20 years on the finish, and the same GOLD Greenguard certification for low chemical emissions, which matters if the floor is going into a bedroom or a nursery. P3 slip rated under AS 4586, micro bevel on all four sides, floating click installation with no adhesive.

Choose the 8mm when the budget is the constraint and the rooms are smaller: bedrooms, a unit, a rental refresh. Choose the 12mm when the floor runs through a large open-plan space, where the 2.2 metre plank earns its money.
