Alpine Mist - 12mm Oakleaf HD Plus Laminate Flooring

Alpine Mist is a light warm blonde-beige oak: a clean, bright board with soft grain movement and a gentle sandy cast, bright enough to open up a room without the coldness of a true white-grey. It is the most broadly useful pale colour in the Preference Floors Oakleaf HD Plus range, and the one that sits comfortably with almost any joinery. Sierra Oak is a shade warmer again; Arctic Fox is the near-white if you want to go paler.

Two things separate Oakleaf HD Plus from ordinary laminate, and both matter more on a pale board than a dark one. The first is the print: it is a high definition digital print with 30 pattern repeats, where most laminates cycle every six to ten boards. On a large open-plan floor that is the difference between a floor that looks like timber and one where you start noticing the same knot again. The second is the plank size: 2200mm x 196mm, so the boards are a full 2.2 metres long and there are far fewer end joins across a room.

It is AC4 rated for everyday residential wear with a 48 hour water-resistant core and a moisture-protection treated V4 micro bevel, so spills that would swell an ordinary laminate joint have time to be wiped up. Super matte coating keeps glare down under downlights, Välinge click installs it floating with no adhesive, and it is rated P3 for slip under AS 4586. It is also GOLD Greenguard Certified for low chemical emissions, which is worth knowing if the floor is going into a bedroom or a nursery. Preference back it with a 25 year limited structural warranty and 20 years on the finish.

One limitation worth being clear about: this floor is suitable over in-slab hydronic heating only, not over electric underfloor heating mats. Supply and install available across Sydney.
