Oakleaf HD Plus Laminate Flooring
Oakleaf HD Plus is Preference Floors' high definition laminate, and Adore stocks it in both thicknesses Preference make. The 12mm board is 2200 x 196mm with a carton covering 1.725m2. The 8mm board is 1215 x 195mm, eight planks to a carton for 1.8954m2. Same decor on both, same print, same coating; what changes is the length of the plank under it and the price.
Fifteen colours at 12mm. Blackbutt and Spotted Gum cover the Australian species, with Hickory alongside them for a North American look. The pale and neutral end runs Alpine Mist, Arctic Fox, Bellmore Oak, Delta Sand, Natural, Sierra Oak and Windsor. Bedrock, Clove and Hampton Oak hold the mid to darker tones, and the greys are Silk Grey and Wolf Grey.
Seven of those are also stocked at 8mm: Alpine Mist, Bedrock, Blackbutt, Delta Sand, Natural, Spotted Gum and Wolf Grey. The 8mm is the board for a unit, a rental refresh or a bedroom where budget leads. The 2.2 metre 12mm plank earns its premium across a large open-plan floor, where the shorter board would put noticeably more end joins in front of you.
The specification is what separates it from ordinary laminate. It is AC4 rated with a 48 hour water resistant core and a moisture protection treated V4 micro bevel, so a spill that would swell an untreated joint has time to be wiped up. Seam swell and seepage testing runs past 80 hours against EN 13329, ISO 24336 and NALFA. Slip is rated P3 under AS 4586:2013 Appendix A. Fire testing returns a CHF value of 4.4kW/m2 with a smoke value of 12% minimum. The surface is a high definition digital print under a super matte coating, which keeps glare down under downlights, and it installs floating with a Valinge click profile and no adhesive.
It is GOLD Greenguard Certified for low chemical emissions, which is worth knowing if the floor is going into a bedroom or a nursery. Preference back it with a 25 year limited structural warranty and 20 years on the finish.
One limitation to be clear about: laminate is not a wet area floor, so check Preference's installation requirements before laying it in a bathroom, laundry or powder room.
Installation is Sydney only. We can supply and install, supply only if you are laying the floor yourself, or supply and stay on hand while your own installer does the work. Book a free measure and quote, or see the boards in person at one of our Sydney showrooms.
Comparing laminates? AquaStop is the water resistant option from the same supplier, and every range we stock from them is on our Preference Floors page.

Delta Sand on the 8mm Oakleaf HD Plus board. As on the 12mm, the name misleads: this is a pale cool grey-white with a faint lilac cast, not the warm sandy tone it suggests. It is one of the coolest...

Blackbutt on the 8mm Oakleaf HD Plus board: the same light warm golden-tan with a soft, even grain as the 12mm version, and the same restrained reading of the species that makes it more convincing than the heavily saturated golden-ambers...

Bellmore Oak is a light warm blonde-tan: brighter and cleaner than Hampton Oak, with the same open knots but less depth of colour, so it lifts a room rather than warming it up. It sits in the useful middle of...

AVAILABILITY: In stock (1000 items)
Wolf Grey is warmer than the name suggests. It is a mid greige-taupe with a clear brown undertone and visible grain, not the cool grey most people picture when they read "grey" on a flooring page. That matters, because greige...

Spotted Gum here is a mid warm brown with a reddish cast and strong striping through the grain: a fair reading of the species, which runs honey through amber to mid brown with far more plank-to-plank variation than oak. It...

Hickory is the straightforward warm mid-tone in the Preference Floors Oakleaf HD Plus range: a brown-tan with genuine warmth and an even, unfussy grain that does not compete with anything else in the room. It is the colour people land...

Delta Sand is not the warm sandy tone the name implies. It is a pale cool grey-white with a faint lilac cast: among the coolest boards in the Preference Floors Oakleaf HD Plus range, and a genuinely different proposition to...
AVAILABILITY: In stock (1000 items)
Clove is cooler than the name suggests. Rather than the warm spice brown you might picture, it is a muted mid grey-brown: the grey holding the warmth in check and keeping it from going orange in afternoon light. That makes...
AVAILABILITY: In stock (1000 items)
Blackbutt in the Preference Floors Oakleaf HD Plus range is a light warm golden-tan with a soft, even grain: a restrained and fairly convincing take on the species, closer to how Australian blackbutt actually lays than the heavily saturated golden-amber...
