Bedrock is the richest board in the Preference Floors Oakleaf HD Plus range: a mid-dark warm brown with genuine depth in the grain and a good deal of tonal movement from plank to plank. It is the colour to choose when you want the floor to anchor the room rather than recede from it, and it works particularly well against pale walls, stone benchtops and brass. Darker floors do show dust more than mid tones, though the super matte finish helps considerably, and the strong grain movement here is far more forgiving than a flat dark board would be.
What makes this worth choosing over a cheaper laminate is the print and the plank. It is a high definition digital print with 30 pattern repeats, most laminates cycle every six to ten boards, and on a rich, high-variation colour like this a short repeat is obvious, because the eye latches onto the same distinctive knot appearing again down the room. The boards are also 2200mm long and 196mm wide, so there are far fewer end joins across an open-plan space.
AC4 rated for everyday residential wear, with a 48 hour water-resistant core and a moisture-protection treated V4 micro bevel. Super matte coating, Välinge click floating installation, P3 slip under AS 4586, and GOLD Greenguard Certified for low chemical emissions. Preference back it with a 25 year limited structural warranty and 20 years on the finish.
One limitation to know: suitable over in-slab hydronic heating only, not electric underfloor heating. Supply and install available across Sydney.
