Westminster - Empath - 9.5mm Cut Pile Carpet

Empath is a true olive green, and there is very little else like it in broadloom carpet. This is not a grey with a green cast in the way that Synth is; it is a proper moss-olive, deep and slightly dusty, and it is the boldest colour Belgotex put in the Westminster range. On the floor it behaves like a colour, not a neutral, so it wants a considered room: white or chalky off-white walls, natural timber, black or aged brass metalwork, or the opposite approach of a dark green or navy joinery scheme that it can sit inside. It is superb in a library, a study, a formal lounge or a hotel-style bedroom, and it is one of the few carpets that makes a stair run worth looking at. What it will not do is disappear. If you need the floor to stay quiet and let the furniture talk, Synth carries a hint of the same olive in a neutral greige, and Gesture is the pale silver-grey option.

Westminster is a Belgotex Premium Solution Dyed Nylon range, tufted cut pile, 9.5mm total thickness on a FusionBac backing and supplied 4.0m wide. Premium SDN is what allows a colour of this saturation to exist sensibly in carpet: the pigment is locked into the fibre as it is extruded, so Empath is fade proof under Australian sun and stain proof in the practical sense that spills sit on the surface long enough to be lifted, and the fibre can be cleaned hard without going patchy. It is also anti-allergenic, which matters in a bedroom.

The 9.5mm plush pile is genuinely soft underfoot and, as Belgotex note, gives Westminster superior sound absorption. In an apartment, a townhouse or an upstairs bedroom over a living area, that is a real benefit rather than a marketing line, and it is one reason the range is specified as often above ground floor as on it. It carries an AS ISO 9239-1 fire rating and is rated Extra Heavy Duty Residential as well as Heavy Duty Commercial, so the same carpet works in a house and in a hotel or office fitout.

Belgotex back Westminster with a 20 year residential and 10 year commercial warranty, the longest warranty they offer on carpet. Supply and install available across Sydney.
