Eclipse Shadow is the darkest board in the Godfrey Hirst Zenith 1800 range: a near-black deep brown-charcoal with fine striation through it that stops the surface going flat. A dark floor is the most dramatic thing you can do to an open-plan space, and the honest trade-off is that it shows dust, lint and footprints more readily than any other colour in the range. The super matte finish helps considerably, because sheen is what makes marks visible on a dark floor and there is very little of it here, but it is worth going in with your eyes open. If you want the depth with a little more forgiveness, Nebula Walnut is a step back from it.

Dark boards are also where surface texture is hardest to fake, and Zenith 1800 is embossed in register, which few hybrid floors are. The texture is physically aligned to the grain printed underneath, rather than a repeating emboss rolled across every board. Combined with the super matte PUR coating, it is what keeps a near-black hybrid looking like timber instead of laminate. The Trigon aerated acoustic M-Core and bonded 1.5mm acoustic backing make it quieter underfoot than standard hybrid, with no separate underlay required. 1800mm x 225mm boards, micro bevel, floating Uniclic installation.

It is backed by a 25 year Godfrey Hirst limited residential warranty and rated P5 for slip resistance under AS 4586: the top wet-slip classification, worth having on a dark floor that will show wet footprints. Green Building Council compliant for VOC emission limits, made under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified systems. Supply and install available across Sydney.

The right rug size depends on two things: the size of your sofa, bed or table, and the size of the room around it. This guide gives you the sizes we stock, what each one does in a room, and a quick way to check before you buy. Every size is in centimetres. If you want a second opinion, call 02 9166 3980 or send us a photo of the room and we will tell you what fits.

The sizes we stock

  • 80 x 150 cm runner: beside a bed, in front of a kitchen bench, or inside the front door.
  • 80 x 300 cm hallway runner: long hallways and corridors. Some designs come in 80 x 280 cm and 100 x 300 cm as well.
  • 120 x 170 cm: beside a bed, or a small space such as a study, an entry or a nursery.
  • 160 x 230 cm: the most popular size in Australia. It sits under a coffee table with the sofa just off the rug.
  • 200 x 290 cm: the rug comes right up to the front legs of the sofa.
  • 240 x 340 cm: about half the sofa sits on the rug. Also sold as 240 x 330 cm and 250 x 350 cm.
  • 280 x 380 cm and 300 x 400 cm: the whole sofa sits on the rug, with floor showing around the edge.
  • Round rugs: under a round dining table, in a reading corner, or to soften a room full of straight lines.

Living room: start with the sofa

Measure your sofa first. A standard three-seater is about 200 to 220 cm wide. A sofa with a chaise can be 260 cm or more. Then decide how much of the sofa you want on the rug.

Sofa off the rug: a 160 x 230 cm rug sits under the coffee table and stops just short of the sofa. This works in apartments and smaller living rooms where you want softness underfoot without covering the floor. A sofa with a chaise can rest its chaise end on this size.

Front legs on the rug: a 200 x 290 cm rug reaches the front legs of a three-seater and ties the sofa, coffee table and armchairs together. This is the size most people are after when they say the 160 x 230 cm "looks a bit small".

Half the sofa on the rug: at 240 x 340 cm (or 240 x 330 cm and 250 x 350 cm) about half the sofa sits on the rug, and side tables usually fit on it too. Open-plan rooms and bigger lounges are where this size belongs.

Whole sofa on the rug: a 280 x 380 cm or 300 x 400 cm rug takes the sofa, the armchairs and the coffee table, with floor still visible around the edge. Measure the room before you order one. You want at least 20 to 40 cm of floor between the rug and the walls, so a 300 x 400 cm rug needs a room at least 3.5 by 4.5 metres.

Bedroom: the rug should show on both sides of the bed

A queen bed is 153 cm wide. A 160 x 230 cm rug laid across the bed covers the lower two thirds and gives you about 60 cm of rug on each side to step onto. For a king bed (183 cm wide), go to 200 x 290 cm so the rug still shows past the sides. Two 80 x 150 cm runners, one on each side of the bed, do the same job for less if the room is tight.

Dining room: chairs should stay on the rug when pulled out

Allow about 60 cm beyond the table edge on every side. A four-seater table suits 160 x 230 cm. A six-seater needs 200 x 290 cm. An eight-seater or a long table needs 240 x 340 cm, and a ten-seater needs 300 x 400 cm. Round tables take a round rug about 120 cm wider than the table.

Hallways, entries and kitchens

A hallway runner should leave 10 to 15 cm of floor on each side. Most Sydney hallways are 100 to 120 cm wide, which is why the 80 x 300 cm runner is the one we sell most. For a short entry or in front of the kitchen sink, the 80 x 150 cm runner is the right length.

A quick way to check at home

Lay masking tape or a bed sheet on the floor in the size you are thinking of, then put the furniture back. If the sofa legs land where you want them and there is still floor around the edge, that is your size. Our sizes can vary by 3 to 5 percent, so leave a little room.

Keep it in place

Every rug on a hard floor needs an anti-slip underlay. It stops the rug creeping and stops the corners curling. We sell underlay cut to each rug size, and the Rug Care Kit adds a cleaner spray for spills.

Send us a photo of the room with the sofa or bed in it and the room measurements, and we will tell you which size to buy. You can also walk on the sizes side by side at our Auburn showroom, 111 Station Road. Online orders come with 21-day returns if the size is not right once it is down.

Delivery

What are the Delivery Charges?

We offer free delivery on orders of $50 and up to all major metropolitan areas across Australia, including all state and territory capitals for Rugs only. Some exclusions may apply if your postcode is excluded one of our team members will contact you and will discuss delivery options. 

If you live outside our free delivery zone, we advise you to contact us through the chat function on our website or by emailing us info@adorerugs.com.au and we can provide a quote/ arrange alternative delivery options for you.

For flooring deliveries:

Delivery fees will be incurred. Shipping costs can vary depending on your location please contact us through email or call/message 0483 939 938.

How long does delivery take?

While delivery times vary depending on your location, we find standard delivery to major metropolitan areas usually occur within 3-7 business days once the payment has been processed. Rural areas can (but not always) take longer depending on where you live but do usually arrive within 5-10 business days.

We also offer Express Delivery to Sydney Metropolitan areas and it usually takes 1-3 Business Days, this service is free on orders of $500 and over and costs $30 on orders of $500 and below . Please note this service is for online orders only and it is not yet available for areas other than Sydney Metropolitan.

It’s also important to keep in mind some couriers have postcode exclusions. If you find this is to be the case please contact us and we can look to arrange another method for delivery to you. 

All items will be delivered during business hours. Usually, we request the courier to call prior delivery, but we can't guarantee on behalf of courier.

Can I pick up/Click and Collect?

Click and Collect and Pick Up from our local store is available at111 Station Rd Auburn NSW. Please allow 24 hours processing time. You will be notified when your order is ready for pick up via email/sms.

What happens if I'm not home?

By default couriers have "Authority to leave" which means if the address is correct and the courier deems your porch a safe place to place your rug they will do so. 

If you don't want this option and have any special delivery instructions such as 'signature on delivery' or if you'd like the couriers to put your package in a different safe spot you can request it by writing on the "delivery instructions" on checkout or emailing us at info@adorerugs.com.au and we will try our best to accommodate your request.

Is there anywhere you cannot deliver?

We cannot deliver to the following postcodes due to courier restrictions. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Returns

Online Orders

If you have purchased an item online you are eligible for a return for up to 21 days after the date of purchase. You will not be eligible for a return if it passes 21 days. 

You will be responsible for paying shipping costs to return your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. If the item is dirty or damaged we will not issue a refund.

To complete your return, please email info@adorerugs.com.au and in the subject line please write "Return + Order number" and give a detailed reason for the returning item, include photos if possible. 

Please allow up to 48 hours to get a response back regarding further instructions for the return process. 

There are certain situations where only partial refunds are granted: (if applicable)
* Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error.
* Any item that is returned more than 21 days after delivery

Refunds (if applicable)
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days. 

Exchange (if applicable)
We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email at info@adorerugs.com.au  

In store purchases

We do not offer refunds on change of mind purchases when shopping in store. You are, however, eligible to exchange your rug within 48 hours of purchase. 


To be eligible for an exchange, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. If the item is dirty or damaged we will not accept an exchange. 

Alterations/Custom Sizing

If you request any alterations such as overlocking or requesting a custom size the customised rugs become non refundable this is applicable to both in store and online purchases.
