Benghazi - Breeze - 9mm Scroll Loop Pile Carpet

Breeze is the only genuinely cool colour in the Benghazi range: a mid grey-taupe with the warmth pulled out of it, so it sits quietly beside cool white walls, charcoal joinery, black tapware and stainless steel instead of pushing yellow against them. Every other colour in this range leans warm to some degree, including Wave, which is its closest neighbour and is clearly a warm grey by comparison. Against Dune, Breeze reads noticeably cooler and a shade darker. Choose it if your home is styled in modern greys and you have been frustrated before by beige carpets turning dirty-yellow under LED lighting. The one caution is that Breeze will look flat and slightly cold in a room full of honey-toned timber or warm brick. In that setting Wave or Dune does the same job without the clash.

Benghazi is Belgotex's 9.0mm scroll loop pile carpet, made by working loops of several sizes into a linear base so the floor carries a textured, scrolling surface rather than a flat one. The yarn is 100% solution dyed nylon in a matte finish, which is the detail that stops a grey synthetic carpet from looking like a grey synthetic carpet.

Solution dyed means the pigment is added to the nylon while it is still molten, so the colour is part of the fibre and runs all the way through it. That has two consequences worth knowing on a cool grey like Breeze. The first is that it will not fade or drift warm under years of Australian sun. The second is that it shrugs off cleaning: most household spills, and the products used to attack them, cannot strip colour that lives inside the fibre, so you can clean hard without leaving a pale mark behind. Add the loop construction, which sheds soil rather than trapping it the way a dense cut pile does and hides footprints and vacuum lines in its texture, and you have a floor that keeps its appearance on ordinary vacuuming alone. It is rated Extra Heavy Duty Residential and Heavy Duty Commercial and rolls at a 4.0m width.
