Baltimore - Carbonite - 10mm Patterned Cut Pile Carpet

Carbonite is the darkest colour in Baltimore: a near-black charcoal lifted by a grey fleck running through the mottled pattern, which stops it from becoming the flat black hole that solid dark carpet can be. Compared with Graphene it is denser and closer to black, with less grey left in the base; compared with Dolomite it is a different order of darkness altogether. Use it where you want the floor to sit back and let everything above it stand out: pale walls, a stairwell with a light-coloured balustrade, a media room. It is not a colour for a small, dim room, where it will make the space feel smaller and lower, and Graphene or Dolomite are the more forgiving choices there.

What makes Carbonite work in practice is the same thing that defines the whole Belgotex Baltimore range: it is a tufted patterned cut pile, not a plain. The grey fleck through the mottled pattern disguises the one weakness of very dark carpet, which is that pale dust, lint and fluff show against it. On a plain near-black carpet every thread of cotton is visible; here the pattern gives the eye somewhere else to go. Dark tones already conceal soiling, scuff marks and traffic lanes well, so the combination is unusually low-maintenance for stairs, hallways, offices and rental properties.

It is made from 100% Premium Solution Dyed Nylon. Pigment is introduced while the nylon is still liquid, so the colour is locked into the fibre rather than applied to its surface: stain proof and fade proof, tolerant of strong spot cleaning, and resistant to the greying and sun-bleaching that dark carpet suffers near windows. The fibre is anti-allergenic. Beneath it, the reinforced FusionBac backing holds the 4.0m broadloom stable through long runs and stair installations. Total thickness 10.0mm, Extra Heavy Duty Residential and Heavy Duty Commercial to AS ISO 9239-1.

The warranty is 20 years residential and 10 years commercial, plainly stated, the longest Belgotex give on any carpet they make. Belgotex hold ISO 14001 certification and have set Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) targets; solution dying uses no water and the carpet is low VOC emitting.
