Baltimore - Dazzle - 10mm Patterned Cut Pile Carpet

Dazzle is the outlier of the Baltimore range and, by some distance, the most distinctive carpet in this catalogue. Where the other seven colours are quiet two-tone mottles in grey, sand and charcoal, Dazzle is a deep navy ground shot through with bright multicoloured confetti flecks scattered at random across the pile. It is a decision rather than a default. In a rumpus room, a teenager's bedroom, a home theatre or a playroom it does something no neutral can: the fleck gives the floor life and swallows an enormous amount of mess at the same time. In a cinema, a club, a school library or a games room it is the obvious specification. What it will not do is disappear. If the brief is a floor that recedes and lets the furniture speak, look at Chalk, Marble or Dolomite instead — Dazzle is for the room where the floor is allowed to be the fun part.

The navy base is doing more work than it first appears. Baltimore is a tufted patterned cut pile, and a dark ground with high-contrast flecking is the most forgiving surface combination in carpet: crumbs, lint, pet hair, spilled food and the darkened traffic lanes that form on landings and through doorways all break up against the pattern rather than standing out against a flat colour. It is the reason confetti-fleck carpet has been the standard in cinemas and function rooms for decades — it looks much the same at the end of a busy night as it did at the start.

The yarn is 100% Premium Solution Dyed Nylon: pigment is added while the nylon is still in liquid form, so the colour is locked inside the fibre rather than sitting on the surface of it. That is what makes Dazzle stain proof and fade proof, safe to clean with strong chemistry, and stable in sunlight over the long term — and it matters more here than on a plain colour, because a multicoloured fleck applied as a surface dye would go patchy with hard cleaning and this one will not. The fibre is anti-allergenic. The backing is FusionBac, a reinforced construction that holds the 4.0m broadloom flat and stable through wide rooms, corridors and stair nosings. Total thickness is 10.0mm, and Belgotex rate it Extra Heavy Duty Residential and Heavy Duty Commercial to AS ISO 9239-1.

The warranty is 20 years residential and 10 years commercial, the longest Belgotex place on any carpet. Belgotex are ISO 14001 certified with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) targets set, the solution dying process uses no water, and the carpet is low VOC emitting.
