Fresco Oak is the dramatic end of Herringbone 7.0: a smoky charcoal grey-brown, deep and slightly weathered, with fine darker grain moving through it. Nothing else in the range is close — Select Spotted Gum, the next deepest, is a warm brown by comparison. In a herringbone layout a dark board is a genuine statement, because the pattern is read through the sheen and the bevelled joins rather than through tone, and it is stunning in an entry, a bar or a formal living room with good light. In a small, dim room it will be overwhelming.
Dark floors hide dark soil and show everything pale, and a herringbone pattern adds more bevelled joins for dust to settle into. Fresco Oak therefore asks for a little more attention than a mid-brown would, particularly in raking afternoon light. In exchange it offers depth that no other board in this range can, and it makes pale walls, brass and warm timber furniture look considerably better than a neutral floor does. Use it where there is natural light and ceiling height to carry it.
The 7.0 platform puts a 7mm SPC hybrid into a small 600 x 150mm block so it can be laid in a true herringbone pattern. Of that 7mm, 1.5mm is IXPE acoustic underlay already bonded to the back, so the floor goes down in a single pass. A UniZip locking profile handles the angled joins the pattern requires, the edges are micro-bevelled, and a 0.55mm wear layer under an anti-bacterial UV coating protects the surface. Expect a more involved installation than a straight plank floor, with more setting out, more cuts and more time on site. The rigid core is waterproof, though a click-together floor is not a waterproof assembly and does not replace a waterproofing membrane — speak to us before using it in a wet area.
Warranty runs to 25 years residential and 5 years commercial. The board carries an A+ VOC rating, is phthalate free and is fully recyclable at end of life, which makes it a straightforward specification for projects with indoor air quality or sustainability requirements. Supply and install available across Sydney.
