Herringbone 7.0 - Oak Saffron - 7mm Hybrid Flooring

In herringbone, Oak Saffron shows a warmer, more apricot face than you might expect from the name — a light-to-mid tan blonde with a peachy warmth and soft flowing grain running through each block. It is clearly deeper and warmer than Clear Water Beach and lighter and less olive than Natural Blackbutt. The warmth suits period homes, apartments with limited sun and any room where the floor is meant to feel inviting rather than architectural. It is a poor partner for a cool grey or monochrome palette, where the apricot cast will fight the walls.

Light-warm boards are forgiving in the ways that matter. There is enough tone to keep dust from standing out and enough grain movement to disguise the fine scratching any floor collects, and the warmth carries well into the evening under lamplight. In a herringbone layout the pattern itself distracts the eye from small marks, which makes this one of the more liveable options in the range. It brightens a south-facing room without the upkeep that Clear Water Beach demands.

Herringbone 7.0 is a 7mm SPC hybrid in a 600 x 150mm block, with 1.5mm of IXPE acoustic underlay pre-attached so no separate underlay is required. Blocks join on a UniZip profile designed for the angled joins a herringbone layout demands, and the floor floats over the substrate. The surface carries a 0.55mm wear layer and an anti-bacterial UV coating, with micro-bevelled edges that make the pattern legible. It is worth knowing that a herringbone floor is a more involved installation than a straight plank floor — more cuts, more setting out and more labour time — so allow for that when planning. The core is a waterproof rigid core, but a click-together floor is not a waterproof assembly and is not a substitute for a waterproofing membrane; talk to us before specifying it for a wet area.
