Swish Laminate - Nutmeg - 12mm Laminate Flooring

Nutmeg has none of the spice-brown depth its name suggests - the swatch is a light sandy greige, a pale neutral tan with quiet grain and just enough grey in it to stop it reading as yellow. It is one of the lightest boards in the Swish Bespoke range, second only to Floria. Against Vivid it is smoother and a little warmer; against Fawn, which the name might lead you to expect it resembles, it is far lighter and far cooler in feel. It suits open-plan homes, rentals and any room where the floor needs to stay out of the way. If you want an actual mid-brown from this range, Velvet and Sydney Gum are the boards to look at.

Light neutral floors are the easiest specification to live with when you do not yet know what furniture is going into a room, and Nutmeg is a particularly uncommitted version of that. It hides fine dust well and dark grit poorly, which is the usual bargain with a pale board, and it holds its colour under both warm and neutral lighting without shifting noticeably - which not every pale decor manages.

This decor sits on the Swish Bespoke platform: a 12mm board measuring 1518 x 236mm, matt-finished, micro-bevelled on four sides and embossed in register. EIR is worth understanding - the embossing plate is registered to the printed decor, so the grain you run your hand across is the grain you are looking at, not a generic texture stamped over the top. It turns up elsewhere in this catalogue, but it is the single clearest upgrade over flat-printed laminate at this thickness. Boards lock with Välinge 2G and float over underlay without adhesive, which also means an individual board can be lifted and replaced later.

Swish Bespoke is rated AC4 for abrasion, certified E1 for VOC emissions, and specified for dry interior areas of private homes and commercial establishments - not for bathrooms, laundries or anywhere regularly wet.
