Swish Laminate - Sydney Gum - 12mm Laminate Flooring

Sydney Gum is a warm golden eucalypt decor with real character in the grain - amber and honey tones, clear tonal jumps from board to board, and occasional darker figuring. It is considerably warmer than the grey-gum associations of the name suggest, and it is the most obviously Australian-looking board in the Swish Bespoke range. Set against Velvet, which shares roughly its depth, Sydney Gum is the livelier and more golden of the two; set against Linden it is a different world entirely, warm and active where Linden is cool and still. It is not the right choice for a formal, uniform floor, because the variation is the point and it will not lay down flat and even.

Variation like this is genuinely useful in a busy house - marks and minor damage disappear into the pattern instead of standing out on a plain field. Sydney Gum handles large open areas well because the eye has something to move across, and its warmth pairs naturally with cream and warm white walls, brick and brass. Against a cool grey wall with black hardware it will look like the odd one out, so it is worth deciding the palette before the floor.

Swish Bespoke Laminate Flooring is a 12mm floating laminate on a 1518 x 236mm board - shorter and wider than the long planks that dominate the category, which keeps the pattern repeat tight in rooms broken up by doorways and joinery. The surface is matt with EIR embossing. EIR means embossed in register: the texture pressed into the board is aligned to the printed grain, so the ridge you feel sits where the grain you see falls. EIR appears on other ranges in this catalogue too, but against flat-printed laminate it is the difference you notice first. All four edges are micro-bevelled and boards join with Välinge 2G locking, folding down over underlay with no glue.

The range carries an AC4 abrasion rating, an E1 VOC rating and a 25 year warranty for private use. It is approved for dry interior areas in homes and commercial premises only, so plan a different floor for wet rooms. Supply and install available across Sydney.
