XXL 8.0 - Royal Oak - 8mm Hybrid Flooring

Royal Oak is cooler and more contemporary than its name implies: a mid-depth smoky grey with a faint brown undertone and a fine, fairly uniform grain, closer to weathered timber than to a traditional stained oak. It is clearly darker and cleaner than Oak Sofia and clearly lighter and greyer than Ebony. It suits modern apartments and minimal interiors where a grey floor is a deliberate choice, and it looks strong against white walls, black frames and pale stone. It will not satisfy anyone looking for a warm, traditional oak.

Mid-depth greys are practical in the same way mid-browns are: dark enough that light dust does not stand out, light enough that dark grit does not either. The comparatively even grain means Royal Oak shows deep scratches a little more readily than the more varied boards in the range, so felt pads under furniture are worth the small effort. It holds its colour well from daylight through to evening, and it works in hallways, living areas and bedrooms without the upkeep demanded by Ebony.

XXL 8.0 is named for the plank: 1511 x 229mm, long enough to cut down the number of joins across a room and make an open-plan space read as one continuous floor. The board is 8mm thick including 1.5mm of IXPE acoustic underlay already attached to the back, so no separate underlay is needed. A 0.55mm wear layer and an anti-bacterial UV coating protect the surface, the edges are micro-bevelled, and the boards lock together on a Välinge 5G profile and float over the substrate. The core is a waterproof rigid core, but a click-together floor is not a waterproof assembly and is not a substitute for a waterproofing membrane. Talk to us before specifying it for a wet area.

It is covered by a 25 year residential and 5 year commercial warranty, rated A+ for VOC emissions, phthalate free and 100% recyclable at the end of its life. Supply and install available across Sydney.
