XXL 8.0 - Walnut Brown - 8mm Hybrid Flooring

The name sets up a dark, rich walnut; the board is something quite different and, for many rooms, more useful — a light-to-mid mushroom brown with strong pale cathedral grain limed over a soft greige-brown ground. It is noticeably lighter than Spotted Gum and warmer and far more figured than Oak Atlanta. The bold grain gives it real presence in a large open room and pairs particularly well with pale walls and simple joinery. If you have specified it expecting a dark chocolate floor, order a sample first — it is not that board.

The heavy limed grain is its practical advantage. Strong pattern gives dust, scuffing and light scratching almost nowhere to show, and the mid-warm ground avoids the contrast problems at both extremes of the range. That puts Walnut Brown among the easier boards here to keep looking presentable in a busy hallway or family living area. The caveat is scale and company: in a small room, or alongside patterned tiles, stone with heavy movement or a busy rug, the grain becomes a competing element rather than a backdrop.

XXL 8.0 pairs an extra-long 1511 x 229mm board with an 8mm build that already includes 1.5mm of IXPE acoustic underlay on the back, so nothing separate goes down first. Above the core sit a 0.55mm wear layer and an anti-bacterial UV coating, and every edge is micro-bevelled so each plank stays legible once the floor is laid. Boards join on a Välinge 5G locking profile and float over the existing substrate. The core is waterproof, but a click-together floor is not a waterproof assembly and is not a substitute for a waterproofing membrane — speak to us before specifying it for a wet area.
