XXL 8.0 - Seashell White - 8mm Hybrid Flooring

Seashell White is the coastal board of the range — a very pale whitewashed oak with cool grey-green flecking and enough plank-to-plank variation to keep it from looking flat. Cotton Oak is paler still and far more uniform; Oak Sofia is a clear step darker and greyer. It belongs in beach houses, bright apartments and Hamptons-influenced interiors, and it is outstanding at lifting a room that does not get much sun. It is a difficult board to recommend for a household with muddy boots and a large dog.

Pale floors show dark debris, and there is no way around that. Seashell White does better than most in its class because the variation and the flecking break the surface up, so a single crumb does not sit on an unbroken white plane the way it does on Cotton Oak. Even so, the honest guidance is to use it in living rooms, bedrooms and spaces with good light, and to be realistic about entries and kitchens. Where it excels is making a small or south-facing room feel considerably larger and brighter than it is.

The appeal of XXL 8.0 is length. At 1511 x 229mm the plank is longer than most hybrids on the market, which means fewer end joins, a cleaner sightline down a hallway and a calmer floor in a large room. Total thickness is 8mm, including 1.5mm of pre-attached IXPE acoustic underlay that quietens footfall and removes a step from the installation. The surface carries a 0.55mm wear layer and an anti-bacterial UV coating, the edges are micro-bevelled, and the Välinge 5G locking profile gives a tight, durable joint in a floating install. The rigid core is waterproof, though a click-together floor is not a waterproof assembly and does not replace a waterproofing membrane — check with us before using it in a wet area.

Warranty runs to 25 years residential and 5 years commercial. The board carries an A+ VOC rating, is phthalate free and is fully recyclable at end of life, which makes it a straightforward specification for projects with indoor air quality or sustainability requirements.
