Auburn Ridge Wool Carpet
Auburn Ridge is the wool range: 100% wool loop pile, tufted into a braid-like plaid and accentuated with multi-toned yarn, made in Australia from yarn proven in local conditions. Five colours at 11.5mm.
Wool behaves differently to the synthetics and the differences are real rather than marketing. Its natural crimp gives the pile genuine resilience, so it springs back instead of matting into traffic lanes. It is naturally flame resistant with no added treatment. It helps regulate humidity in a closed room, and it holds warmth in a way nylon never does, which you notice on a winter morning.
The honest counterpoint is care. A wool carpet cannot be cleaned with bleach the way solution dyed nylon can, so spills need prompt blotting and a wool-appropriate cleaner, and a dark wool benefits from a professional clean every few years.
One measuring consideration that catches people out: the roll runs 3.66m wide, narrower than the 4.0m nylon ranges, so wider rooms will carry a seam. It is worth agreeing the join position on site before the carpet is cut, particularly on the darker colours where a badly placed seam shows more.
The braided structure catches light across its raised sections, so the colour shifts as you move through the room rather than sitting flat.
