Auburn Ridge - Banksia - 11.5mm Wool Loop Pile Carpet

Banksia is a mid cool grey shot through with a brown fleck: the only grey in the Auburn Ridge range, and the colour to reach for when the rest of the room is cool. The brown in the fleck is what keeps it from going cold or blue: it reads as a proper architectural grey from a distance, but up close there is enough warmth in the yarn mix to sit happily with timber and leather. It is a good foil for grey-veined stone, cool white paint and black-framed windows, and it is deep enough to handle a busy household. Compared with Tea Tree it is a step darker and distinctly cooler; compared with Lilly Pilly it holds grey where that colour turns warm and mushroom.

Auburn Ridge is Belgotex's wool loop pile, built around a braid-like plaid texture and accentuated with multi-toned yarn. The braid is a real surface feature, not a printed effect. It gives the carpet the look of something woven rather than manufactured, and it is exactly this kind of broken, multi-tonal surface that hides everyday marks best. It is made in Australia, from yarn tested in local conditions.

The fibre is 100% wool, which brings qualities no synthetic replicates. Wool fibre is naturally crimped, so it has genuine spring and recovers its pile after compression instead of matting down. It is naturally flame resistant without added treatment. It moderates a room's humidity, taking up moisture in damp weather and giving it back in dry. And it is simply warmer and more pleasant to stand on. The trade-off is honest: wool cannot be bleach-cleaned the way a solution dyed nylon can, so spills need prompt blotting and an appropriate wool-safe cleaner.

A measuring note: at 3.66m the roll is narrower than the 4.0m nylon carpets, so wide rooms will need a seam that a 4.0m product might have avoided. The plaid texture hides seams well, but it pays to plan the join before installation day.
