Riverside Reserve - Waverley - 17mm Cut Pile Carpet

Waverley is the warm sand-gold wheat of the Riverside Reserve palette, and depth flatters it more than almost any other colour in the range. At 17.0mm the longer yarn traps light between the tufts and the gold note becomes richer and more honeyed than it appears in the 12.5mm version. In a bedroom with afternoon sun it is genuinely beautiful, and it pairs naturally with blackbutt and spotted gum floors, brass, linen and warm off-white walls. The flip side of a committed warm colour is that it will not sit politely in a cool grey or black-and-white interior, where Oatley or Castle Cove are the sensible choices, and it is a distinctly golden alternative to the more neutral Auburn. Bronte is the same warmth taken much further into caramel.

Belgotex construct Riverside Reserve as a tufted cut pile in 100% stainproof solution dyed nylon over FusionBac. Golden tones fade first in a sunny room when colour is applied to the outside of a fibre; here it is inside the filament, so the sunlit half of the room keeps matching the shaded half, and the stainproof yarn gives you time to lift a spill before it becomes a mark.

This is the deep build. At 17.0mm Riverside Reserve is the plushest carpet in the Adore Rugs catalogue, and the underfoot feel is the entire argument for it: soft, dense and deep enough that you notice it the moment you step in. In fairness, that depth also means visible footprints and vacuum tracks, and it makes this the wrong construction for stairs or a busy corridor. Belgotex offer Parkview Gardens as the official colour crossover range, carrying Waverley at 12.5mm, and that firmer build is what should go on the stairs and through the traffic lanes while this one goes in the bedrooms.
