Benghazi - Pebble - 9mm Scroll Loop Pile Carpet

Pebble here is a mid brown-taupe, and that is worth stating plainly, because Belgotex uses the same nine colour names across both of its scroll loop ranges and the colours behind those names are not the same. In the 11.0mm Alexandria range, Pebble is a sage green. In Benghazi it is nothing of the sort: it is a grounded brown-taupe sitting almost alongside Shore but a fraction cooler and greyer, with less of Shore's golden warmth. Read against Shell it is deeper and more shadowed; against Wave it is browner and less grey. That slight coolness makes Pebble the easiest of the darker colours to live with when your furnishings are not committed to one temperature. It will take a warm oak table and a charcoal sofa in the same room without arguing with either. Use it where you want depth and low maintenance: living rooms, hallways, stairs and investment properties.

Benghazi is a scroll loop pile carpet from Belgotex. The pile is built from loops of deliberately varied size laid over a linear construction, so the surface carries an organic scrolling pattern that is legible up close and resolves into a soft, even texture at room scale. The yarn is 100% solution dyed nylon with a matte finish: no sheen, which is what keeps it reading as a natural fibre floor.

Benghazi is the slimmer of the two at 9.0mm total thickness against Alexandria's 11.0mm, which makes it lower, denser and harder wearing underfoot: better suited to hallways, stairs, family rooms and tenanted properties than to a bedroom where you want depth and softness. Solution dyeing puts the colour inside the fibre instead of on its surface, so Pebble will not fade in a sunny room and can be spot cleaned hard without losing tone. The varied loops hide footprints and vacuum tracks far better than a plain cut pile.
