Alexandria Scroll Loop Pile Carpet
Alexandria is Belgotex's scroll loop pile: matte yarn tufted at varying loop heights so the floor carries a low linear texture across its surface. The effect is closer to a natural weave than a conventional carpet, and it is what gives a plain mid tone the movement it needs over a large area. Nine colours at 11.0mm.
One thing to check before you order. Belgotex uses the same nine colour names across both scroll loop ranges, and the colours behind those names are not the same. Pebble in Alexandria is a sage green. Pebble in Benghazi is a grounded brown-taupe. Do not order from a name alone across the two ranges, and ask us for the right sample if you have seen a colour you like somewhere else.
This is a carpet built for real spills. The yarn is 100% solution dyed nylon, so pigment goes all the way through the strand rather than being applied to the outside. Red wine, coffee and pet accidents can be treated hard, including with a diluted bleach solution, without leaving a faded ghost where you cleaned. The same property makes it sun-fast, so a rug or a piece of furniture moved after a few years will not reveal a darker rectangle underneath.
A loop pile also holds a more uniform look than a cut pile does. It does not record footprints and vacuum tracks the way a deep plush will, which is why it suits hallways and whole-of-house jobs where the same carpet runs from the bedrooms through to the entry.
Against Benghazi the difference is the build rather than the styling. Alexandria is 11.0mm and Benghazi 9.0mm, so this is the deeper and softer of the two, better suited to bedrooms and living rooms where Benghazi is the denser, harder wearing option for stairs and hallways.
