Baltimore - Chalk - 10mm Patterned Cut Pile Carpet

Chalk is the palest colour Baltimore offers: a light, clean, cool grey with the range's fine two-tone speckle preventing it from looking like a flat sheet of paint. It is cooler than Sandstone, which is the warm pale in the range, and it lacks the green cast that makes Marble read sage. Against Dolomite, the mid cool grey, Chalk is several steps lighter and far softer in contrast. It is the right choice when you want the floor to disappear and the room to feel larger and brighter: white or off-white walls, pale joinery, a lot of glass. Be realistic about where you put it. In a house with large dogs or a back door onto a garden, Chalk is the hardest colour in this range to keep looking sharp, and Dune or Dolomite will serve you better.

That said, Baltimore is the patterned carpet in Belgotex's Premium SDN offering, and the mottling is exactly what makes a colour this pale liveable. The tufted patterned cut pile carries a flecked, two-tone surface that scatters the eye, so the footprints, crumbs and faint traffic paths that would be glaring on a plain pale carpet are broken up instead. Chalk gives you the brightness of a near-white floor with considerably more forgiveness than a plain near-white floor would.

The yarn is 100% Premium Solution Dyed Nylon, and on a pale colour this is not a nicety but the critical specification. Pigment is introduced to the nylon in liquid form, so the colour is inside the fibre rather than painted onto it: the carpet is stain proof and fade proof, takes aggressive spot cleaning without going patchy, and will not yellow in sunlight. It is anti-allergenic too. FusionBac, a reinforced backing, keeps the 4.0m wide broadloom stable in long runs and on stairs. Total thickness is 10.0mm, with a Belgotex usage rating of Extra Heavy Duty Residential and Heavy Duty Commercial.
