Grande 9.0 - Hawthorn - 9mm Hybrid Flooring

Hawthorn is the smoky one: a deep greige-brown with a distinct olive undertone, muted rather than rich, and far more grey in the mix than the name might lead you to expect. It sits between Sparrow and Raven in depth, closer to Raven in mood but without going fully charcoal. Designers reach for it when a room needs grounding — pale walls, a lot of glass, minimal joinery — and it is excellent under natural linen, brass and greenery. It is a poor match for rooms that are already dim, and it will fight warm-red brick or terracotta.

Dark floors hide dark things and show light things, which is the exact inverse of the pale end of the range. Hawthorn swallows soil, grit and pet hair from darker animals, but dust, lint and light sand sit visibly on the surface, particularly in raking afternoon light. The olive-grey cast helps here: it is less absolute than a true charcoal and reads more softly when dusty. Use it in living rooms, bedrooms and studies with good light; be more cautious in a narrow, south-facing hallway, where it can close the space down.

Grande 9.0 is the thickest hybrid board Eco Flooring Systems makes: 9mm in total, of which 2mm is IXPE acoustic underlay bonded to the back at the factory, so nothing separate is rolled out beneath it. Above that sits a rigid SPC core with an LVT balance layer and a cushion pad, finished with a 0.55mm wear layer under an anti-bacterial UV coating. Boards are 1500 x 230mm with micro-bevelled edges and join with a precision click-lock profile as a floating floor. The core is a waterproof rigid core, but a click-together floor is not a waterproof assembly and is not a substitute for a waterproofing membrane — talk to us before specifying it for a wet area.

It is covered by a 25 year residential and 5 year commercial warranty, rated A+ for VOC emissions, phthalate free and 100% recyclable at the end of its life. Supply and install available across Sydney.
