Blackbutt - 14/3mm Crosswood Engineered Timber Flooring

Blackbutt in a herringbone block, 14mm thick with a 3mm sawn veneer of real Australian hardwood over a seven layer plywood core. Blackbutt runs pale, from straw through to light golden brown, and its grain is tighter and more even than oak. In a herringbone lay that evenness works in your favour. The pattern does the talking and the timber does not compete with it.

Blocks are 600 x 127mm with tongue and groove edges, so this is a glue-down floor rather than a click-together floating one. The surface is wire brushed and finished matt at 5 to 8 percent sheen, with a micro-bevel on four sides so each block reads separately instead of the floor looking like one printed sheet.

Because that veneer is 3mm of solid timber, the floor can be sanded back and recoated later in its life. That is the practical difference between engineered timber and a printed wear layer, and it is what you are paying for.

Herringbone is slower to lay than a straight plank floor and has to be set out from a centre line, so allow for that when you are comparing quotes. Supply and install available.
