Ornato - Verona - 5.3mm Looselay Vinyl Plank

Oatmeal, sandy and faintly washed with grey, Verona is a pale oak that manages to stay warm without ever looking yellow. That balance is its whole point. Pau is cooler and chalkier and Tuscany is warmer and more biscuit, so Verona ends up as the one pale floor in the range that sits comfortably with both timber and stone. The grain is open but lightly coloured, with occasional soft knots, which keeps the surface interesting at close range. It is excellent for beach houses, light-filled extensions and any room where the floor needs to feel airy. It is a poor match for a dark, enclosed room, where a pale floor with this little contrast can look washed out.

Verona is often the choice in homes that are about to be rented or sold, and looselay fits that thinking. Nothing is locked together and nothing is permanently bonded to the slab, so the floor is genuinely serviceable: a board damaged before an inspection can be swapped the same day, and a whole floor can be lifted and relaid if a room changes use. Retail and office fitouts use looselay for exactly this reason, and there is no reason a homeowner should not benefit from the same flexibility.

Technically this is a 5.3mm looselay luxury vinyl plank, 178 x 1219mm per board. A fibreglass core layer inside the plank keeps it dimensionally stable across seasonal temperature change, doing the job that a click profile does in a hybrid floor. The surface combines a 0.50mm PU wear layer with a NanoSilver antibacterial coating, and the plank uses a squared edge so joints finish flush. It is laid looselay and glueless, with minimal adhesive applied over large open areas. The floor is R10 rated for slip, offers excellent sound and heat insulation, and suits underfloor heating. It is moisture resistant, though a looselay floor is not a waterproofing system - please talk to us before specifying it for a bathroom or laundry.
