What sets Vichy apart is the variation between boards: some planks run pale and almost pink, others drop into a soft salmon-brown, and a few carry darker streaks and fine checking, so the finished floor has a patchworked, reclaimed-timber quality. It sits in the warm half of the collection near Sienna and Vittoria, but Sienna is far redder and more uniform and Vittoria is a deeper amber with pronounced knots, whereas Vichy stays lighter and more blush-toned throughout. It suits country and cottage interiors, cafes and anywhere a floor should look like it has history. It is the wrong choice for a strictly modern scheme, and the pink undertone can clash badly with cool grey walls.

A decor with this much board-to-board difference really needs to be dry-laid and assessed before it is fixed, and looselay lets you do that as a matter of course. Planks hold their position through weight and friction, with squared edges butting tightly, so the installer can shuffle boards to balance the tone across the room and still make changes afterwards. Years later, a damaged plank comes out and a new one goes in without cutting, prying or adhesive - the reason looselay is a standard specification in retail, offices and rental fitouts where floors are expected to be repaired, not replaced.

The plank is 178 x 1219mm and 5.3mm thick, stabilised by a fibreglass core layer that keeps each board flat and consistent in size instead of relying on a locking joint to hold everything in tension. A 0.50mm PU wear layer protects the surface, over which sits a NanoSilver antibacterial coating, and the squared edge profile means no bevel groove to trap dirt. Installation is looselay and glueless, with minimal adhesive introduced over large open areas. It carries an R10 slip rating, delivers excellent sound and heat insulation, and is suitable for underfloor heating. It is moisture resistant, but a looselay floor is not a waterproofing system, so speak with us before specifying it for a bathroom or laundry.
